Teachers who have taught in the Fauquier County public school system for a minimum of three years, are tenured in our system, intend to continue to teach in Fauquier County, and have not received a grant in the previous three years are eligible to apply for grants.

Excluded from consideration are required courses in pursuit of advanced degrees and activities which do not relate to the applicant's assigned teaching level or subject area.

Groups of teachers who work together in a particular school or subject area and for whom a shared experience strengthens the benefits to students are welcome to apply for the same opportunity.

Applications must be received by the Committee no later than March 1st of any given year. The application also includes a Principal's Recommendation Form, which is given to the principal by the applicant. When complete, the principal forwards this form directly to the Committee; again, no later than March 1st.

Application forms are available by clicking here. Applications are reviewed and applicant interviews conducted by the Committee in mid-March. Applicants will be notified of the Committee's decision toward the last on the month.

The Committee for Excellence in Education is solely responsible for the selection of award recipients and for determining the amount of financial assistance which is provided.
